That's pretty fast...

Marino Vanoenacker goes 7:45:58 at IM Austria for a new record at that distance! On a bike course with 20 to 22 K of climbing! Yikes or maybe Ach du liebe Ziet!

That is ridunculous! How was the weather during that race? I imagine pretty great. Makes you wonder what the Pro's would throw down at Kona if it was 60 and no wind.

Short course maybe?

or was he juicing..

PoC

I think the course overall is very favorable and he won that race several times in a row; not to mention a very consistent racer at kona too. I doubt any juicing - its like Ironman Germany where sub 8 can happen every year. But still - crazy to think a 4.15 bike followed by a 2.39 run! Amazing. If Macca was impressed (twitter) I am...

Short Course? This is Austria we're talking about! If anything that course has been measured down to the centimeter by guys who make wooden gears for coo coo clocks!
(disclosure: My family is from Osterreich)

Speaking of fast, Anton, how is your recovery back to full speed coming these days?

Das ist sehr schnell!

I bet he was moving too fast to see the sunflower fields :)

Quite well! Back up to running six days a week (but for less than an hour) some speed work and biking @ 100+ a week. Various strength stuff (kettle bells, bouldering, painting the house) everything feels good! Thanks for asking!

I'm just finishing the bike at this point. Sick.

LOL My friend and I were just saying the same thing about the IM Austria course this morning. We weren't quite on our bikes that long...but pretty darn close. It ain't human!

I was talking about IM Osterreich with a friend today too...It's lumpy and I like lumps so I'm thinking about it for next year...I love Austria and the frau has never been. Might be time for a Racecation!
