Hi all,
Im new here but loving the community already. I have a few sprints and olympic distances to my name and Im looking for the next step up to the big daddy races. Im keen on a 70.3 sometime this year and a full distance next year.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a flat(ish) course to start off with as Im not the best climber? I am thinking of starting with a non IM franchise race which is Challenge Barcelona in May (half) and then the same race in October (full) which is on a very flat course. The only down side to that is that I have to wait till 2012 to do these races.
Any suggestions will be appreciated :)

There are a lot of iron
There are a lot of iron distance races in Europe. The Challenge organization has many in various countries while WTC does as well. A variety of independent races as well. This link will show you some of the independent full iron distance race around.

I did IM Switzerland and love it. We have no climbs like that here in MN, but that didn't matter, just trained a bit harder. Both Challenge races in Spain are appealing, maybe someday.
If you want are aiming to
If you want are aiming to qualify for Kona, IM Wales is now V popular as the race is in September with qualifying for Kona the following year.
Thanks guys. I will check

Migangeloo- I raced IM
Migangeloo-
I raced IM Germany in 2005 as my first IM and it was perfect! There was around 3000 ft of climbing (nothing too steep) and something like a half-million spectators throughout the course. It couldn't have been a better experience (well, I could have done without the gut problems!). Plus, direct flights into Frankfurt makes the travel easier.
Good luck in your search!
