Baby jogger strollers?!!! Help :)

Great news is that we are expecting our first child (boy). As you can imagine or have experienced, we have tons of questions we need to address before his arrival!! One that I hope the Trifuel community can help is their experience with jogging strollers.

What did you buy? Do you like it? Would you get the same model again? Why do you like/dislike it? Right now, everyone is trying to steer me to the BOB Ironman model or the BOB endurance model? I would rather have the communities opinions vs a sales clerk.

So far, I see that raising a baby is very similar to Triathlon...lots of time involved and EVERYTHING related to tris and babies are FREAKING EXPENSIVE! :)

Thanks!!!

Congratulations! I wanted one really bad, but we are on a budget, so I bought ours at Canadian tire for $150. I looked around but even the used ones seemed expensive. Ours is a CCM. I find it really useful because it can also be used as a bike trailer. I think it is actually a bike trailer first, but I also jog with it.

Congrats on the great news. We were in same boat as you about 6 years ago. We settled on borrowing a friends jogger and buying a Bob revolution for around town (we walk a lot). Found out after a few runs both my wife and I prefer to run without a stroller, and actually enjoy the "freedom" of a nice run alone. Once your little one gets older they start to require stuff as entertainment on the jog, and that stuff ends up getting thrown out like every 20 strides. Kind of put and end to our working out with the kid(s) We love our children dearly, but you and your wife will find the value of "you time" . I can tell you the BOB is a nice solid stroller to push and light jog with, but very heavy when stowing. Might be difficult for your wife to fold and put in the van or car. We have friends who have the Bob Ironman and run all over town with it. We currently have a Bob revolution duallie and it has been a solid walking town-groomed trails stroller. Good luck

Our first one was an off brand one that my wife used very often. After time it hurt her wrists. The front wheel also wobbled a lot (it wasn't the swivel kind either) From that we learned that we should have stuck with a name brand, yea, we saved some money by going with a cheaper one, but the quality just wasn't there. We later upgraded due to necessity to a double-wide and went with a Burley. It was very nice and even with the 2 kids wasn't to hard to push (note we are in the flats of Indiana, so I don't know what its like going up and down hills with one.)

I know they are expensive, but if you know you are going to use them often, the name brands are worth it. Be sure to check around garage sales and/or craigslist. I think a lot of people buy them with good intention, but hardly use them. You can probably find one in good shape that may be 2 or 3, or more years old.

Congrats!

We have a Chariot CX2. Easily one of the best baby-related purchases we've made. It's a little pricey due to having to buy different attachments but very well made! We bought it for our first son 5 years ago and it's still in great condition. We're looking to go at least 5 more years with it as our 1-year-old is now enjoying it.

Congrats!

We went with the BOB Revolution. Bought it at REI because one of my wife's shower gifts was an REI gift card. We looked at Chariots (also at REI) and Baby Joggers (not at REI).

Unlike a pure jog stroller, the Revolution has a front wheel that can either be locked in place (for running) or swivel for normal walking use. With inflatable tires and suspension. this makes it an excellent walking stroller for all surfaces. However, the locked position for jogging includes a tracking knob to get the stroller to roll perfectly straight. The tracking is a bear to get "just right" and you may drive yourself crazy trying to correct slight veering to the left or right. Tires have shrader valves and need to be inflated every so often--make sure you have a shrader pump head. As far as weight, it is a bit bulky to fold and carry. But it rolls easily enough for just about anyone to push it.

For us, it is a good jogging stroller and an excellent walking stroller. Since we only use 1 stroller for our 20-month old, I'm pretty happy this is the one. If I were to own a dedicated jogging-only stroller, I would look for one with a fixed front wheel like the BOB ironman or a baby jogger.

Wee PJT actually loves going running, but like most little ones he has a limited range of about 45 minutes to 1 hour before he will get squirrely. So he does not get to go on the entire weekend long run--although sometimes I'll take him out for a shortloop of a longer run if his Mom needs some time to herself. We also "commute" to or from his daycare via jogstroller a few times a week (it's a 5 mile roundtrip), which he loves. As a workout, pushing a stroller is a little different from normal running. Don't sweat it too much.

One thing I would recommend is to test out the strollers in person. Different handlebar heights mean that some will work better for you and your wife than others.

Also, be sure to wait until your baby can hold his head upright before going running in the stroller. Check with your doc as to what age/development stage they recommend.

Congrats! We have a Kelty, I don't know the style but it is awesome for running. It is big, so it isn't always the greatest to take places, but we live close to a crushed gravel trail that we use it on daily. Our daughter, now 2, has been loving it since she was 6 months old( the youngest recommended age for runners). One of the features that I like the most for running is the fixed front wheel. The ones with a movable front wheel seemed to track crazy and you would end up having to worry about the direction the stroller was going. With the fixed front wheel, you can just cruise along and the stroller tracks with you. I am 6 foot and my wife is 5' 6" and the handlebar height works well for both of us. I would definitely get this stroller again if I needed to!

I got a standard jogging stroller from BabyJogger when my babes were little, and that worked pretty well, especially since we lived near some gravel roads and it could go on those with ease. When we moved here, I switched to a Burley Bike Trailer, because it would switch between bike and jogging stroller easily, and had a rain fly and a fly that was just made of netting (no more toys hurling out while you're running).

As far as babies being expensive, it's just like triathlon. There's not much that you NEED, but there may be lots of things that you WANT.

Needs for babies: blanket, a few clothes, some cloth diapers, wipes, some boobs, a bed (our babies slept with us). A sling is nice too.
Wants: Endless

Our jogging stroller was our big splurge, and we ended up doing a money tree at our shower instead of having people give us lots and lots of smaller stuff. We ended up with enough to buy the stroller and a backpack, which we used a *lot*.

i have got a Bob 2011 Revolution SE jogging Stroller, the price now is $339 it's very good.i love it .if you want to see more jogging stroller reviews you can click here
