This race was a few weeks ago, but I have been too busy to do a RR for it until today, so here you go. This race is not actually in Memphis anymore, it is now in Tunica, MS at the Harrah Hotel and Conference center. I thought this race was pretty awesome. Transition was in the hotel lawn, the swim was in the man made lakes behind the hotel used as a water border on the gold course (and for pictures too I'm sure). If you were on the right side of the hotel you could have watched the swim and transition areas without leaving your room.
Swim:
The swim was fast. It was a time trial start and there were 400 people in from of me, so I had a line of blue caps to spot off the whole way which made it easy. I did not swim much this year and this was my first open water swim of the season. I split 21 min even, so no complaints.
Bike:
As soon as I got on the bike it began thunder storming. Thunder, lightening, rain, wind the whole 9 yards. I thought it was awesome. It was raining HARD, and harder waves of rain were moving through in sheets, I still thought it was awesome. It was my first ride on my new bike (Felt B-10) but at no point did I play it conservative, the engine roared the whole time. I also encountered what I consider a rarity in tri. I briefly got stuck, and then passed a farming combine. It was nothing to be upset about, just odd. I finished the bike with a :59 split, and came off the bike feeling great.
Run:
If you follow my post you know the run is my weakest link. I started strong and was feeling really good. I snagged my Garmin in T2 because I like to get as much info as I can since I am a self proclaimed terrible runner. I was rolling (for me) through the first few miles when I just kinda lost focus, I wasn't hurting or tired or bonking, I just kinda stopped caring? I'm not real sure what happened. I knew when I finished my legs didn't hurt near as much as they should. I also got really frustrated on the course when I started to realize the run course was going to be way long. I ended up getting 6.7 miles on my Garmin. My run split was :49 so it wasn't too bad, especially considering by the time I got to that extra half mile I was probably at 8 min miles. I'm not too concerned, I didn't rest or taper for this, and I have done 0 speed work for my running. That's the biggest challenge for me is learning how to run fast.
Overall time was 2:11 not to shabby...

Definitely not to shabby
Definitely not to shabby TriAU!
Man if I could have your swim time and not train I would love it. I work my rear off to be around that mark. Gotta love the swim gods!
Nice swim as usual but super
Nice swim as usual but super fast bike. That's crazy good buddy.
Thanks fellas. To say I
Thanks fellas. To say I didn't train for that swim is a little bit off, I spent the first 15 years of my life training like an animal for that swim...I know what you mean though
Great time tri au, 2.11
