Favorite pre-race/pre-training pump up music

I'm going to have to go with something off the neweset Escape the Fate record or the Asking Alexandria record. They are both metally, screaming good times. They make me want to bike faster than the cars that go screaming past me.

I've had a different song every year for about 4 years that just CLICKS as my main motivation
song.
Sometimes it's heavy like
SLAYER-SOUTH OF HEAVEN
Sometimes not so heavy like
RUSSIAN CIRCLES - CAMPAIGN
This years song is starting to CLICK on
RED SPARROWES - IN ILLUSIONS OF ORDER

But if you are asking what is in the MP3 player, it's a huge mix of good stuffs.

Last years pre-race song was Iron Man by Black Sabbath!

I sing "Michael row the boat ashore" and then the Brady Bunch theme song...J/K

It's a Saliva/Linkin Park/Agent Orange/Nirvana/Pearl Jam looped on an i-Pod with powered speakers in my transition bag for transition zone pre-race set-up.

Saliva - Superstar II

no music for me.... After I set up my gear and go and find a dark corner and sit and meditate for 15-30 minutes. Focus on absolutely nothing for 15 minutes and then focus on mentally going through the race from beginning to end.

Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen

I get pumped up by all the activity in transition. No music here.

"Right Now" by Van Halen... the piano build at the beginning is just killer

The Dollyrots- Because I'm Awesome
The Wombats- Lets Dance to Joy Division

Super catchy songs that I don't mind singing to myself lol

ac/dc - highway to hell

I expected nothing less

Rev Theory- Justice
Skillet- Monster
Trapt- Headstrong
Shinedown- Sound of Madness
ac/dc- Hells Bells

Once I'm out of the car though, the environment incites the mental boost- nothing like it.

If I ever do an ironman, I want to hear "For those about to rock" AC/DC, as I'm in the water waiting for the start.

I've been to events where the music selection has been annoying and wished there was none at all.
On the other hand, the Washington DC ITU Race back in June 2009. Whoever put that playlist together is a genius. It was a really good vibe. (Maybe it was a 10 song loop and I was never around transition long enough to notice. Ha!)

Everytime I've gone to a triathlon I've wondered, "Why do they play all that crappy two decade + old music louder than an airplane takeoff?". Now I'm keenly aware that I'm in the acute minority.

I'M THE LOSER. :)

P.S. I do like JfromJacksonHole's Pearl Jam/Nirvana references though

I like music pre-training. Pearl Jam especially.

Before the race I try to stay calm and much of the loud music becomes annoying to me. I would rather talk to people and soak up the energy in transition.

I have a ritual of making sure the last song I hear before I hit that water is Eminem - Lose Yourself.

I will give more props to the Pearl Jam and Nirvana but I think thats becuase we might have been raised with it (i.e. we are all just the same age).

"30 Seconds to Mars".

Check them out - Great for a furious ride!!
