Last weekend I ran my first 50 mile race in Florida. Being a California girl, it was exciting to do a destination running race. Although in this case the destination was really the people! I've blogged about the whole experience for those of you who like stories. Including the fate that brought me to that particular race :)
The short version: Fate brought me to Croom Fools Run 50 miler when I decided I didn't like worrying about time, pace, or distance, but just wanted to run more. I loved getting to see my Florida Trifueler buddies (Star and TriGuy98) and having their support. And I finished... it got hot, it wasn't always pretty, there might be TMI, but I did it.
- Why this race: Rocky Roads 100 - pacing and my future
- Getting to the start: Getting to Croom Fools Run 50 Miler
- Race day: Croom Fools Run 50 miler
- Recovery/After: Post-Croom – the final segment – and PossAbilities Tri 2011

It was great to see ya! That was a great effort on a brutal day.
Come back, maybe we can all do Ragnar. Its only 190 miles :D You can do my leg if you want the extra miles! ;) Star, Armand was saying how he hasn't been to Key West... what better way to do it? Just sayin.
The reward could be camping on Dry Tortugas for a night or two. Its so awesome, nothing else like it.
http://www.nps.gov/drto/index.htm I have/ have access to all the gear we would need. See how easy and appealing I made that?

Charles - I'd love to come back and play sometime :) Ragnar could be fun, but sometimes it is tough since you all run at different times which can make the truly social time limited.

Hamlet-Cat - As Ky wrote you can get the lamps at REI but you can also find them at Home Depot or Lowes as well.
I have done a Ragnar last year and it is very social. Only one person at a time in your van is running and you stop frequently to cheer them on and support them.
Lots of fun ;-)
