Skip a week of training?

What would you do if you had to skip a week of training? I'm going to Italy in a couple of weeks and won't be able to bike while I'm there. I'm thinking of doubling up the time on my bike the week before and just running while I'm there. Any suggestions?

A week in Italy? Training?
You could skip doing anything for a week and it won't set your fitness back at all. Go. Enjoy. Do. BE in Italy and have a great time. If you really feel a need to get out, fine, but don't let it trash the holiday. No need to double up before you go although I do find a good butt kicker of a workout the day before I leave for a trip helps with the long plane flights!

You might be envious though when you see the amount of people on the roads on carbon bikes, and in spandex or whatever that material is called.... A week in Italy, it's next door , so cool... .enjoy the food and if you are Tuscany ask for a steak fiorentina... with a bottle of chianti.

Enjoy and don't fret about the training like Anton said. Get a killer workout in before you leave as you have a a whole week to recover.

Don't even thing twice about it.

It is alright to skip a week. If you are touring make sure you walk around a lot to check out the sights! ;-)

Suggestions? Drink plenty of red wine and eat some great food! Maybe get in a little run through the vineyards or through the streets of Rome (or wherever you go). Enjoy yourself!

Sure, make the week before a bike focus week, no problem.
Sure, bring your running shoes, but don't stress about "needing to get a run in".
I'd also suggest not bringing along any of your run electronics. When I'm "off" for a week like that, I find it much more enjoyable to just slip on the kicks and go for a run around the town. No B.S. about what zone I'm in or whether or not my tempo run is at race pace for X miles. It's just a wonderful way to get out and see the sites from a different perspective.

And if you wake up late because you had too much pasta and cianti the night before, just roll back over and catch a few more winks. Letting your brain go on vacation for a week is going to be far more valuable then the week off from training.

I'm sold... and can't wait.
Thanks

Top tip, find somewhere that you want to see then go for a run at dawn so only you can appreciate it.
