Trifuel's Great Gobbler Challenge - the trophy has landed!

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of finding a turkey in my mailbox:

Since proudly taking its place on our family trophy shelf it has proven to be a great conversation piece and a good reminder of the friendly rivalry we all shared. The little bird has grown on me; so much so that I solemnly declare I will do my utmost to defend its possession in nine months' time![IMG]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZvwlEOhuJU4/TVqyVm1LkII/AAAAAAAAAhc/15wMvo5ULk...
Thanks again for arranging to make this happen and see it thru, AT!

Based on your mileage for that challenge, you probably could have run down to North Carolina and back up to Canada before the postal service got it to you. Snail_male got some REAL snail mail.

I'm gonna start a rumor that you live on a well defended compound full of "Branch Davidians" way out on some Canadian nature preserve and you cultivate a unique sort of rhubarb in an effort to live solely off the land. That's the only explaination I have for why it took so long. :)

Anyway, congrats yet again.

Very cool. Second only to my bottle opener (in my opinion at least).

Can't wait to challenge for it again in 9 months!

SO COOL! congrats, you deserve it!

Very cool AT!
Congrats Snail.

Awesome! Congrats again.

I love the turkey!

Re: the snail male speed of the shipment - I got to thinking about that, reckoned it must have something to do with the journey from NC to Ontario. If it had to pass through Quebec to get here, I think we have our answer. There are a few legendary customs outposts along the border
[IMG]http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu178/snail_male/TF_customsOutpost.jp...

that still cling to old customs, and when you combine that with the french traditional joie de vivre it's easy to understand why the petit dindon had a layover that may have run on for weeks. No doubt they acted on their rights to "open package for inspection", fell in love with the bird, promptly took a coffee break

(the image is from a customs office serving a village of 180 inhabitants) and took their time re-wrapping it. It likely stayed in their office for weeks on end

until some new trinket caught their fancy and off it went on the next wagonload westward. Just a theory, mind you...

Ha. I'm liking your conspiracy theory better than mine. Enjoy it for the next year. I think I may have a go at the Gobbler Challenge next year.

Wow. That is great! I love the pictures.
