Did anyone do this race this year, and if so would you recommend it? Our nephew is interested in endurance sports, after watching my husband become his IronUncle at IMFL a few years ago. We thought it would be fun if we all did his first tri together. They're in Pensacola, and we're in DC...Knoxville is one of the few places that is equidistant to both locations and has an Olympic distance race. Our thought would be to make it like a 4-day family weekend. We were looking for some place driveable for both sides of the family, and this would be about 400-500mi for each of us.
We don't have much other interest in visiting the area, and so would really only be traveling because of the race.
So, any feedback welcome. I've heard good things about Rev3 generally. Or, other races that anyone can recommend that might be midway between our two locations.

rev3 puts on great races - i did quassy HIM this year and it was well organized, great crowd and volunteer support and good for spectators. i dont know much about the knoxville venue / location , but i can vouch for rev3's organizing ability.
there were also a lot of pros in attendance at the race, i met crowie and rinny in the hotel the day before the race.
