Speedfill vs. Vision Aero Drink

Hey there. I need some help, links to reviews, or general thoughts. I am wanting to add a front orientated hydration system to my bike before IM Canada. I have the profile design aero drink which I want to throw away but can't for some reason (damn Granddad imbeded conservationism without reason!). I current keep to bottles mounted on the back and I ride a Felt B2 pro. My thought is to keep my liquid nutrition in my rear cages and refill water into what ever other hydration system I use. Now the issue I am thinking through is that I only have mounts on the down tube on my bike relevant for the Speedfill. I was hoping people on the forum have either used one or the other or maybe have seen reviews for both. I am looking to buy soon so I can use it prior to the race. Any thoughts would be great!

Thanks

Don't know much about the Vision Aero Drink setup, looks big!

I've been testing and working on a write-up for the Speedfil water bottle. In general, I like it. Not many faults with it, only one or two but minor and had nothing to do with using while riding...

I've used it on as many windy conditions as possible and not really and issue in cross-winds, but then again i don't go riding when it's 20MPH winds.

It holds pleny of water. It take a few tries to fill it up on the go, so make sure to get it early enough to play with that. Don't know about their neoprene wrapper, to keep it cool, didn't test that, but it would be nice.

People think its for only long distances, but it would work for short races as well, just don't fill it up all the way.

I would think about using this and an aero-bar water bottle up front if i did another IM race, nothing behind me...

What is your thought on nothing behind you?

My thoughts is that the speedfil is great for training, especially when you have long routes with no water stops. However, for an actual race I don't think it is benficial because of all the extra added weight. For me I use the profile design for gatorade and one bottle in the rear or down tube for water. Essentially just enough to get me from aid station to aid station, plus one in case I drop one through the aid station..

Probably just a case of personal preference, but I can't see carrying the extra amount of liquid weight in a race. Just my $.02.

FWIW, I start with one bottle and never have more than one in my cage. I pick one at at each hand-up and that's it. Each hydro option you mention carries 2.0lbs to 2.6lbs of fluid, plus the added weight of the system itself (and they look rather bulky). Seems a bit much when the hand-up is 24oz/1.5lbs of hydration that you only have to carry to the next station 10 miles away. I wouldn't want to carry any excess weight up those climbs.
