Anyone with WPW (Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome) on here? I've been mostly symptom free for the past three years in training, but have recently had some issues and am now considering ablation--but I'm a bit concerned about how the treatment might affect performance and endurance. If anyone has had it and can provide advice or recommendations, I'd appreciate it.
Hi, It's been a long time
Hi,
It's been a long time since your original post, so not sure whether you've taken the plunge and had the ablation?
I dont partake in triathlon events, but do cycle long distances and I have wpw. I also had the ablation done in 1994....
I'd be happy to share some info with you and also ask some questions related to your performance as I am interested to compare... i.e. avg heart rates during events/excercise etc.
After my last event
After my last event (Cozumel) I was planning on having ablation done. My biggest fear has always been tachycardia during the swim (like Alcatraz). But so far this year I haven't had any symptoms. I did have a brain tumor removed in sort of an emergency procedure last month and due to its proximity to my brain stem / cerebellum am now wondering if that had been causing some of the heart issues I experienced in prior years.
Shoot me a PM with your email if you would--would love to get your take on the procedure, as well as training/racing w/wpw.
