So I have a puppy who weighs 110lbs (he's just over a year old and a big goofball Shiloh Shepherd) and likes to race you to the back door. We are going all "dog whisperer" on his rather ample arse, so as he was racing to the door Sat nite, I blocked him from the race and made him lie down. Problem was that as I blocked he stomped on my left foot...hard. Not only did I get a couple of holes in my big toe, the metatarsal one joint back got flattened as he stomped and turned to get the hell out of my way! So, today I have a swollen and bruised foot that I can barely weight bear on. I had xrays done this afternoon. I should hear in the next couple of days if there is a fracture. I am sour. I know running is out of the question until I get symptom free, but with the fracture possibility it may be longer. I fully intend to ride with it taped and have already been swimming with a pull buoy to keep the pain under control. Grrrrrrr!
Just thought I would see who else has dog-related injury stories...just like the list of dumb injuries we had going a while ago...this has to be one of them!

wow, that sucks! I don't
wow, that sucks! I don't have dog related injury, but 2 weeks ago, I dropped a crock pot lid on my big toe and thought for sure it was broken with the swelling and bruising that spread to the middle of my foot. Luckily, it was just bruised, but I am still on limited running for my tendonitis :(
Hope you heal fast. How big is that puppy supposed to get?
Oh no! Hope it isn't a
Oh no! Hope it isn't a break. I think Ironmom is nursing a dog related fracture.

I own two French mastiffs . . . one weighs approximately 175 lbs and the other 120 lbs . . . I live in constant fear of my knees.

What a bummer. My mom broke
What a bummer. My mom broke her hand coming down on my dog's head years ago.
I broke a metatarsal several months ago. In talking to the podiatrist he suggested a steel insole for the latter period of healing. I was on the blue velcro shoe for about 4-5 weeks, but then was able to run (gently at first) with this insert so that the sole of your shoe doesn't flex very much. I'd say ask about it toward the end of your healing process. Good luck, it's not such a big deal, it'll be better before you know it.

Yep Ironmom had a dozy of a story, but don't stress the stress till you know it's a fracture, otherwise do what the universe is telling you. Put your feet up and relax... You have only foot on that leg and you will need it in the future
I remember Ironmom's story
I remember Ironmom's story now that you mention it! It's feeling much better today and has much less swelling, so hopefully not fractured. I have been taping and wearing birk's and that seems to help.
The dog will be around 130lbs, so no mastiff but still a fair size! He's a great guy, I am working toward forgiveness!
I don't have a dog related
I don't have a dog related injury BUT since the timing is perfect I will tell you that just yesterday I hurt my back from sitting in a chair. Yeah, that's right. I sit in a U-shaped desk at work with my computer in the middle. I turned my body to the left to look at a report and strained a muscle in the middle of my back. I think it must be THE most important muscle in my back because it hurts even when I walk. Horrible sleep last night. It will be better in a few days (and I hope yours will improve as well) but how pathetic an injury is that.
I'm gonna tell everybody at work that I jumped out of a 3 story building that was on fire so I could save a young child. That may keep my dignity intact.

One time my boxer and I were in my front yard when a guy came jogging by with a pit bull and a mutt off leash, the pit immediately attacked poor, friendly Dakota. Had her by the throat, shaking and tearing. So i did the first thing that came to mind. I started kicking the pit as hard as I could until it let go. The next day my ankle and shin were pretty bruised and sore. I didnt break anything, dont know about the dog. Aside from some deep puncture wounds, Dakota was OK in a few days.

oh, poor Dakota! That's awful! I would take a few bruises for all of my little furry buddies! At least you have a good story...my staff have had a great laugh at me gimping around with ice packs on my foot...
