I'm trying to help a friend find an appropriate fitness coach. I say fitness coach because we're not necessarily working towards completing a tri yet, but I thought the skill set of a tri coach might be appropriate. Here's the situation:
This person is an executive based in Philadelphia who travels a lot. He's completely inactive right now, over-eating, and frankly I suspect that the eating habits are masking other issues. The good news is that he's recognizing the need to get started at square one, but he doesn't know how to get started. I think that what he needs is someone who can talk with him on the phone, prepare a plan for him that includes a focus on both activity and nutrition, and can be in touch with him on the phone occasionally to check on progress, etc.
I was thinking a beginning tri coach because I don't think he knows yet what type of activity he's going to like (and therefore stick with), but a background in swim, bike, run, strength training, and nutrition feels like it covers the bases.
If you're a coach or know of a good coach please drop me a line at dkhartung@hotmail.com
