KUDOS TO FINIS for their SUPER service with my swimp3!

It isnt very often that you get good service from a company and even more rare that you get awesome service. A couple of years ago I bought the first model of the swimp3. I used it ALOT and finally the battery died and wouldn't charge. Right around that time (early last year) FINIS was having an upgrade deal where I could upgrade to the new model for $100. I emailed them and asked if I could do it even though the thing was dead. Sure enough they said yes. How cool!

Flash forward to 2 weeks ago. Same thing, battery died. I really wanted to know if I was doing something wrong , using it too much or was it bad design. Either way I was ready to buy a 3rd one. I have tried out the arm band you can put your ipod in (uses waterproof earbuds), my friend was nice enough to lend me to try. Earbuds fall out and the arm band doesn't work for me. Any way, I was completely ready to buy a new one. I emailed customer support and asked about what I was doing wrong. I got an answer the next day (I emailed over the MLK holiday, Sunday). They said they would look at it, and if they couldn't fix they would replace it. So, I sent it in....exactly one week later I had a BRAND NEW Swimp3 player in my hot little hands!!!!! What other company would send a new item out (and no, it doesn't look refurbished, and even if it was I don't care) after a year of consistent use? THANK YOU FINIS!!! Great customer service! You have saved me from having to swim in dreaded boredom (endless pool)!

So, it never hurts to ask :)

awesome, Britt!
thanks for sharing. It's always good to know who to deal with when you are looking for products

So, you getting the tattoo?

PoC

Thanks for the report. I have their Swimp3 and love. I've heard stories about the battery dying but after having it a year, so far so good, however I probably don't use it nearly as much as you do. Question for those who have this product, do any of you have itunes music on it? I can't seem to convert the songs to mp3 format. I know there has to be a way that isn't too complicated...but I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

I had the same problem...if you burn the itunes music you want onto cds, and then import the cds into your music file, it changes the format so you can transfer them to your swimp3
hope that helps

Anybody own the FINIS swim lap counter? I was looking at it on Amazon the other day and wanted to buy it, but the reviews were terrible!

Thanks jtrimom! I will definitely try that!

I have only got music that I burned from cd's into itunes so they are mp3. What jtrimom said is correct if you purchased them and downloaded from itunes.

Can you drop podcasts on the Finis SwiMP3? If not, I might try a waterproof case for my ipod instead.

as long as they are in the mp3 format. Jtrimom said she copies to cd then to the swimp3(above).

I tried a cover for my ipod with earbuds a friend had. Hated it. the earbuds dont stay in, and the strap goes around your arm which I found irritating, but that's just me.

That is why I would rather have the SwiMP3. I did see a cover that attaches to your iPod to the goggle strap instead of arm, but it still has earbuds. The SwiMP3 ear things look better than buds.
