I have good days when I have enjoyed the extra time and opportunity as well as not being fatigued. But, I still miss the training or the discipline of it. Getting a lot things accomplished in the off season but the longer it goes on the more I want to get back.
I actually like it, there
I actually like it, there are pluses and minuses. I like that i can get on my trainer any time i can and get a nice workout and i don't need to worry about helmet, extra tubes, food, water, cars, people, potholes, pump, and so on. Also because i can catch up on all the shows i missed, that i wouldn't watch with commercials anyway.
Also i like to get in the pool early morning while everyone is still sleeping and the snow is falling outside and i'm actually in swimming. For some people it's not much but i appreciate it.
I like postseason because i can have an extra beer, and look forward to going skiing.
I still try to be disciplined especially starting January when my training officially starts.
Enjoy it while you can ;)
I tend to like the off
I tend to like the off season, but this year it has sucked for reason's listed in my previous post.
Things I like about the offseason
1) Backyard football, without the fear of injuring myself.
2) Running and playing with my boy in the backyard, without the fear of injuring myself.
3) Can eat and drink as much as I want, without the fear of injuring myself.
4) Can try out new sports, without the fear of injuring myself.
5) Can ride my mountain bike, without the fear of injuring myself.
6) Can run the trails, without the fear of injuring myself.
7)........, without the fear of injuring myself.
Things I dont like about the off season.
The fear of injuring myself.
Love it. I've dedicated the
Love it. I've dedicated the last couple autumns to just run training/racing and riding for fun, and winters to XC skiing. I just finished prepping my quiver of skis and am now waiting for the blizzard here to subside to hit the trails! Once everything melts in March I'll actually be itching to get back to tri training.
I guess I don't have "off seasons" as much as I have different sport seasons. I'll sometimes take a week at the transition between seasons and after very long events to chill, but the year-round outdoor activity seems to keep me the happiest.
off season what's that?I
off season what's that?I don't slow down that much just not cycling as much but running what ass i have left off!lol :O)

Amen. My 'off-season' is the start of my, get as fast as I can season. I feel like my life is LSD so this is going to be a nice change.
Next winter I'm taking off.
Next winter I'm taking off. This winter and last winter I just switched to running.
No off-season here, just
No off-season here, just different sports seasons. In 2010 I'm not doing any triathlons until I get my black belt in karate. This winter/spring will be all about karate training intensively, so I expect my triathlon fitness to take a slide. Other winters I have done more snowboarding, indoor volleyball, swimming, etc.
The upside to the endurance base from triathlon: I sparred with a guy last night half my age and I figured out early on that if I just kept him moving he would wear out. I ground him down and won the match solely because he was too out of breath to attack effectively!
Shhh. Don't say anything
Shhh. Don't say anything about not having an off season. ;) I'm like Mom...just have a different season....Flu season, busted ankle season, can't- do- anything- because -of- too -much -school work season. I have to say...It is pretty much beer and cookie season all year round for me! I did the self denial thing for years...it's way over rated.

Amen. What's the point of all this exercise if you can't have a freakin cookie? (Or 4, ahem)

Same here - I'm now running 6 days a week and really trying to find that next gear so I can run like a champ in 2010
Ha! The 'Off Season.' That
Ha! The 'Off Season.' That is funny.
After my last race in October, I made up a "winter training log" which lasted for all of four weeks, til I started my training plan for an ultra next June.
But like some of you, I changed some things and added kickboxing in place of swimming. Fun stuff!
it's called "ski season"
it's called "ski season"
Ahh to mountain bike and run
Ahh to mountain bike and run trails without the fear of injury.... That is one I like
Today off-season meant going
Today off-season meant going under the knife. Just toenails, but still... tomorrow will suck. No swimming for like two weeks, no running for about a week and probably the same with the bike.
Yeah, the off season gives
Yeah, the off season gives time to appreciate the holidays and relationships, plus time to recharge the batteries, and take care of a lot things left undone during the year. For a while, I am normal and it feels good, but I wouldn't want to live here; nice place to visit.
