Triathlon is incredibly fun, and yes...triathlete does sound better than gymrat. Hope you have a great experience at your first race. By the way, which HIM did you sign up for?
That which does not kill me makes me faster...
Yes, when is your race? I think you should be fine if you stick to training and learn from the group that you already have as well as this one. Good luck and remember to keep having fun.
Cream of the crop? I'm the cream of the corn.
You must educate yourself so that you can nake sense of advice thrown at you from all sides.
Partly so you can discard the nonsense and keep the good bits.
Start by reading every thread in the Newbie forum and sundry specialist forums here.
Go to the library and devour Triathlete Magazine.
I applaud your willingness to enter a triathlon with MTBs on road tires. That's the way to acquire experience. That's fun.
Get stuck in and just do it.
Learn as you go.
This is a lifestyle as much as it is a competitive sport.
and welcome to trifuel.

Hello Tri Community,
My husband I signed up for Half-Iron man. Shamefully unprepared and embarassed we didnt even finish the 10mile TT which also happened to be our first day of training. We were planning on putting slicks on our tires until we could find a good deal on road bikes, so we druged on mountain bikes.
We are training with a team, so we have a solid plan and a coach, but we basically have no idea about how we should be doing, and if we are going into this too soon?
We both are in good shape, often at the gym, great eaters, etc but we thought this would give us great support and structure to whip our rears into another level. Besides triathlete sounds way cooler than gymrat.
So, I am solicting you for tips, experiences etc! Anything that could clear the fog from today!
Muchas Gracias
