I've got a race coming up this next weekend that I'll need to drive about 1 1/2 hrs to get to. Until now, I've just been loading my bike in back of the SUV (laying down), however the wife and kid are coming with and that means the back of the SUV is no longer an option for the bike. So, I bought a new rack (Yakima StickUp). It seemed steady when I loaded another bike in and took it around the block, however given that I've got a carbon frame bike and this rack does secure the bike in part of holding the top tube I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on whether or not this would be an issue. I should still be able to take the rack back and exchange it if it's going to be a problem. Any honest feedback/experiences are appreciated. If anyone has any suggestions, please note that I've got a 1 1/4" hitch so that limits me somewhat. Thanks.

Braden

It should be fine, just don't over tighten it. You may want to put a towel or something around the frame to protect the finish. I know a few folks with that rack and they all seem trouble free. Good luck next weekend!

There is an adapter for your trailer hitch to make it a standard size receiver.

I have seen bikes crazy shaking on racks like that while driving. It might be inconvenient for you, but I like the roof racks where the fork clamps, personally (especially if they have a lock too).
