Matt Lieto is a class act!!!
Thanks for taking time to post that. Matt is on a plane now but I'll make sure he knows people appreciate the way he does his thing. Both my brothers inspire me in different ways. Wish I could have been there, next year for sure! Anyone have any pics of them crossing during the marathon? I'm thinking it must have been pretty close to when Crowie was on Chris.
I couldn't catch the whole thing but I saw snippets thru the day and Chris had an amazing race. Craig Alexander did okay too.

This is a GREAT shot from the web page above...Lovato's yelling something to Chris and he's either grimacing or laughing.
triathlonshots.com always has great photos, and they are never the cookie cutter variety...

Sweet! I just found it again but you beat me too it. thanks for dropping that in. Some really amazing shots in there.
Thanks for that Longhair. That gave me goosebumps watching it. Not really a big deal on my end. I am a fan 1st athlete second. Chris started me on this journey and I see the work he puts in to get where he is. If I coulda, I woulda run the whole way in with him. I have seen him go from the lead to 6th on that stretch of road, and I just wanted to see him succeed. He would have gotten up on his own, but i was glad to be able to be there to yell at him a bit ;) Very proud brother indeed. Hell, the only reason i stayed out there on my miserable day, was to see him on course, couldn't ask for a more front row seat!!
Thanks again- Cheers- Matty
That is certainly a tough way to get a prime cheering spot ;-)
It looked like Chris appreciated the boost.
Now when is Paul gonna be sharing the course with you guys?

Hmm. Gonna take a lot for me to get to Kona. Unfortunately when I qualify at age 65 (assuming I don't lose any speed or fitness over the next 25 years) they will probably be retired :)
To all:
Since I started this wonderful sport 4 years ago, I have met more cool classy people that I ever thought. I come from cycling, and a sport with that sort of tradition breeds pricks (sorry for the language) I have met my fair share of excellent people in cycling, but I have met very few jerks in triathlon.
In the Providence 70.3 race, friends of mine met Michellie Jones, and kept in touch for a while via facebook. I am not sure Lance Armstrong would do the same.
The folks who participate in these forums reflect this as well. No matter how many folks ask questions, look for opinions, or otherwise seek information, the contributions are always done with respect and class,( even those threads on racing in speedos.)
I look forward to meeting some of you in in the future as I continue on my triathlon journey.
Stifle the sniffling and sobbing. :)
Thanks for the post longhair. This sport is definitely full of good people and this thread and the comments and support others have shown for those racing in Kona this year have pumped me up. Excited to do some cross training this winter (we are already getting snow) and put together a race schedule for 2010. Hope to see all you trifueler's out there!

I think I will only make it if I win the lottery or age into it as well.
I might see you there and we can be in the same 60-65 age group! ;-)

Not only did Matt put in a great performance of his own, he stopped his marathon to give moral support to Chris as he lead the race.
A great job by both!! I had chills until the end.
