X-Training in Training
only have time to S,B, and R
Single Speed MTB'ing, Weightlifting, and I am getting into Salsa dancing which kicks my ass as much as SBR. Oh, and I all do is dh Ski once the snow comes down.

im going to pick up crossfit/endurance this winter....not sure if i will continue with it through next season. Its purely experimental at this point. But we will see what happens....
I lifted weights and boxed sporadically. oh, does golf count?
I ski every weekend during the winter, cant wait for the winter to come now.
Tired is a state of mind, exhaustion is a state of body.
strength training w pers trainer 2x per week. i try to work in abs/core on top of the usual back/shoulders/bis/tris/chest routines. i havent done too much leg work but i may change that as part of base for next season.
i occasionally miss sessions at the gym - so at home I will do a TRX workout ... www.fitnessanywhere.com it's a great workout and product.

Why? Many people have asked me... to test my limits ... and to push beyond them.
Did the P90x for 1-1/2 weeks, but wasn't liking that I added 1-1/2 pounds to my frame with same diet.
Will now do B and R until I hit ideal body weight (15-20 pounds to go) and then likely incorporate some strength work from the P90x videos - most likely the plyometric routine to develop good speed burst ability. As well, I want to start doing the Yoga and Stretching videos with my wife after we put our son to bed.
I like skiing and salsa too, but haven't been dancing in a while.

I do yoga 2 days a week. All the running and biking makes me terrible at it but its fun.
"If it takes a level in insanity to run 26.2 miles, what does it take to go farther?"
I do try and get some yoga in as well in the off season, and a bit more time in the gym focused on legs and core primarily. I usually can pick up a winter men's volleyball league as well, just to do something different.
Then I'll start to migrate into B & R base building. I'll swim a bit, but frankly I would go insane in an indoor 25 yard pool if I go too often.
Frankly, by November I need a mental break from "training" for at least a month.
zumba and strength training
only have time to S,B, and R
+1 for long-course training (ie, 70.3 and up) I only have the time and energy for S/B/R. I do lift, but maybe 1hr a week, and only so I look good in my Speedo. The other stuff you mentioned I've either never done or haven't done in years because if it's not sport-specific, it ain't helpin' me. For example, I tried out a boot camp. It was an amazing workout, don't get me wrong. I couldn't run the rest of the week though. What good is that?
My season is over so I started the P90X workout routine last week. I was doing a couple of the videos (Plyo X and Chest & Back) before my last race and am now doing the full routine. It is pretty intense and one needs to be in good shape even before you start. There is a fit test that you do before you start to see if you are P90X material. If you can pass it, you will be able to do most of the workouts. The Plyo X is my favorite workout and definitely strengthens your fast-twitch muscles. I have won two sprints in my regular Tuesday night rides since starting Plyo X about 1 1/2 months ago.
You S/B/R people could benefit from some cross training in the off season. Don't worry, you will still look good in your speedo.
Pilates - 1-2 hours week.
Now that I'm in my "off season" I'll be adding salsa dancing (not a fitness class, in the club but a workout its self), stair climbing and cross fit. I still intend on S/B/R with each discipline at least 2X's a week, some 3.

*Smile, it does a body good*
so much stuff to try...and so little time
i was considering p90x this winter
now i'm looking at a backcountry ski class (maybe a little more $, but way more fun!)
meanwhile, running and biking are the cheapest alternatives...i already own that equipment!
I usually do a pickup basketball league every winter. It's nice to get off of the S/B/R and do some hand eye coordination team sports. Different atmosphere. I had to get out of my Spring/Fall Soccer League because the battering destroys you for the entire week.

Even though triathlons are cross-training in themselves, how many of you are enrolled in other work out routines or other equipment. For example, how many of you use the elliptical, or stair stepper? Take pilates or kick boxing?
I personally have implemented some stair stepping into my workout 2 days a week. Just for 15 minutes before I have my legs workout with weights. I love lifting weights so i usually do that 4-5 times a week.
You trifuelers stick do the basic 3, or branch out like I have found myself doing??
thanks
