I will be working in Denver for the next six months and was wondering if there were any trifuelers in the area. Was hoping to find a good gym, masters team, advice on trails and training partners. Any takers?!

I wish I could help. My husband and I are going to visit Denver the end of October to check it out...we may be moving to the Mile High City sometime soon! It is supposedly the most active community around...everyone runs, bikes, skis, hikes, etc, so I doubt that you have problems finding people to help you. Enjoy!

Where exactly in the Denver area will you be? I belong to Rocky Mountain Tri Club: http://rmtriclub.com/

I'm sure you could join for 6 months, its only about 40 bucks a year to be a member. They have three official group workouts a week: Tuesdays are track workouts, Thursdays are group swim workouts, and Saturdays change every week. All workout locations are relatively close to the Denver area. There are all different skill levels and there are some people still training pretty hard for IMAZ and Cozumel. It’s a really fun group, I would highly recommend checking it out!

University of Denver has a really good Masters team, some really fast swimmers and more on the serious side. I just started with Highlands Ranch (southern suburb) Masters and so far it’s great and really laid back.

For running trails you should check out: Wash Park, 2.5 mile perimeter dirt path, good for a lunch time jog. The Highline Canal system weaves through the southern part of Denver, it’s mainly a wide, flat dirt path that you can run on for hours. The Red Rocks area in Golden has a bunch of more technical running trails. Boulder, as I am sure you know, has endless possibilities for hiking, trail running, biking etc. There are some many places to run and ride, those are only a few.

Let me know if you want more specific information on anything!

I don't know Denver, but let me know if you make it down to Colorado Springs sometime...

Thanks for all the great info guys! I just pulled in. I am in highlands ranch. I would love to get together harmsz. Catwood I remember talking to you in Lewiston. I would totally come down for a training ride in Colorado springs. I am not too far. Let me know if you wanna ride this weekend!

I'm doing this
Fall Series
every other weekend for the next few weeks.

The off weekends would work for riding though. Just so you are warned, I'm significantly more out of shape now than I was in Lewiston especially on the bike. However, I am currently in boot camp training mode as I have little to do but keep up in my mba classes and search for work. I am ridiculously sore from a neighborhood group run and master swim practice.

Maybe we can get zagfan on board too because I'm sure he knows more good riding routes than I do. (I've been on 2 bike rides since I arrived.)
