I am rooting for Sister Madonna Buder. She didn't make one the cut offs a couple years back...think it was 2007. Can't remember if it was the swim or bike. People like her and Robert Southwell remind me age is not an excuse to not try!!

unbelievable. 80 years old gives me no excuses. some people think i am strange and have my head on wrong that i have taken up triathlons at 45. i am so glad i have a long time yet to enjoy it and prove the couch potatoes wrong.

the journey is the reward

Firstly, GO SISTER GO! Secondly, does anyone remember her quote about how she thought about reaching over and ripping some guys goggles off their face in the swim? Don't remember what year, but apparently some guy was swimming over her and she took exception. Just make sure she doesn't start the race with a ruler or she might take some people out!

I DO remember that comment, and thought it was hilarious! Especially how matter-of-factly she delivered the line...

Sister Madonna Buder has competed in 37 marathons, 300 triathlons and 31 Ironman Triathlons, all after the age of 50. Amazing.

Yeah, but she's got God on her team. Kind of an unfair advantage. :-)

My mantra from my second through fourth IMs was,

"Beat the nun!"

because I couldn't live it down otherwise.

Now I'm much more mature ;)
