I am in my last week of serious training and mileage before my next marathon, which means that Monday starts my 20-day taper. I need things to do during this time so I don't go crazy. I'm young, have no family commitments, few responsibilities (are you jealous yet?), and no great way to fill the time between work ending (5 PM) and going to bed (11-12 PM).
What I want is a cool activity I can do for each day of my taper. Help me out. If we could come up with a list of 20 things, it would be awesome.
I'll get it started:
1. Go fishing.
Taper the trimom way, if you
Taper the trimom way, if you have a significant other ;-)

THANKS! Way to steal my thunder !!!!
I saw the title and couldn't wait. That's what I get for folding the WHOLE load of laundry AND putting it all away before checking trifuel again.
...if you DO plan to taper my way, make sure your significant other has plenty of carbs to re-fuel with on a regular basis, especially going into the last week of taper for a long race; and you may want to warn him/her of what will be scheduled for the tapering activity so as not to shock anyone's system. If you don't have a significant other, now would be a good time to get one ;)

Duct Tape.
When Odysseus heard the call of the sirens he duct taped himself and the crew to the mast to save them from casting themselves into the sea. (I'm paraphrasing here. heh.)
So just duct tape yourself to a chair (to keep you away from the bike, runners and so on.)
- with water and electrolytes, the remote control and nutrition within reach of course.
A bag of chips at least.

Sweet, Sweet, Duct Tape!! ;-)
Well...you CAN taper
Well...you CAN taper wiithout an SO...;)
That aside...I spend a lot of time on the couch with a stack of DVD's and sometimes my SO.
I get out just a few times during the week to make sure my body stay's in tune and that's it.
Anymore than that and, I feel, you deplete yourself.
I like the duct tape idea...especially if the SO is involved.

Ha... I could get into tapering. And yes, aid stations might be key.
