Clear Goggles.
I swim exclusively in clear goggles, I never quite saw the point of tinted ones. Maybe it's me (or the murky water I swim in) but I've never had an issue with glare. What benefits do you have with tinted goggles?
I like the tinted goggles for sighting the next buoy. If you are headed into the sun when sighting they work somewhat like sunglasses.
Goggles? I thought we all swam with snorkels and scuba masks.
The only benefit I have from tinted google is I can the chicks on the beach without squinting when I take a break :-) Yeah go clear, that way you can the monster coming up from the deep to eat you.

+2. I love clear lenses for indoor swimming, and low light races (overcast etc) but wear a dark tint in bright light.
+3 tinted are the way to go. Try swimming in a lake that will make you feel claustrophobic. It is the scariest thing because you can only see your hands. You get used to it after a while, but that tends to scare even the best swimmers at first.
I always went tinted for as long as I can remember but recently bought a pair of clear goggles. They're definitely better in the pool which usually has poor lighting, but in a clear lake nearby it scares the shit out of me. Does anyone have any experience with overcoming being a pussy while swimming by yourself in the open water? Any advice?
Or should I just HTFU?

My advice is this when you have your head down your doing the crawl. First imagine the water is filled with many toothed beasts. Then remember every film you have ever seen, Water world, Jaws, The Deep, etc; then imagine and enormous monster leaping up out of the water taking half of you in it's jaws as you futilely swim away.
Then remind yourself it only happens in the movies and it's all special effects nonsense and remember Dory. Swimming swimming just keep swimming just keep swimming. ....... but don't think about why she said that.

Of course, if this is what is coming up below you...

... I don't think it really matters if your goggles are clear or tinted

Do any of you find clear lenses easier to swim in open water with than dark tinted ones? It seems they would lessen the feelings of claustrophobia. What do you think?
