foot injury

I need some help with a foot injury that I received a 8 days ago. I have an olym race in 6 days. I stepped on something and have a bruise on the ball of my foot between my big toe and my second toe. It doesnt hurt to walk but I tried to run 2 days ago and I had some pain after .25 miles.

Any strategies or words of wisdom on how to improve the injury? How much will my run suffer in the race if I havent ran in 2 weeks before the event? I have been making up for the lack of running with extra time in the other events.

ICE! I had a similar problem the week before an Olympic distance. I rested it the whole week. Maybe find a Dr. Sholes pad to reduce impact during your normal day, but try to ice twice a day if you can. Good Luck!

I forgot. I also spent time running in the pool. I know there are many people in here who hate slow swimmers and frown upon aqua joggers during lap swim, but doing a few hundred yards running in the pool will help. Finally, my foot was the least of my worries during my race...

Epsom salts in as hot a water as you can stand. It will help improve blood flow to the area.
