Sodium Rich Drinks? Any one use infinite?

Last half had me puking after only 3 mi on the run... I just couldn't take in any water...after a killer 2:28 on the bike. I drank over 80 ounces on the bike so hydration wasn't an issue

So I've been told it was sodium / electrolytes and trying to figure out if I should get them via drink or pills....

The infinite looks good, but it expensive. With Shipping came out to $50. I guess an extra $10-15 is worth it if the stuff is that good.

Any comments on this or using other sodium solutions?

You can add NUUN, Salt Stick, Lava Salts or any other electrolyte supplement to your current caloric intake and not have to shell out the $$$ for a pre-made solution that may or may not work for your body. Even if you can customize it do you really know your own needs yet? I'm assuming not by your post. Try experimenting. Although puking doesn't make e think electrolyte imbalance. Why do you think that was the cause? 2:28 is a fast bike, where you anaerobic? That could have provoked massive GI issues.

+1 to possibly just over-exerting yourself on the bike. How does the 2:28 compare to your bike training...even if you're fuelling optimally, but racing outside of your appropriate zones, you're likely headed for a blow up.

In regard to Infinit, I have used it as my main calorie/sodium source for the past 2 years and have no issues with it. My focus was olys last year, so I used it exclusively...This year my focus is HIMs, so I throw in an occaisonal gel on the run or nutri-grain bar on the bike mostly to mix things up. Infinit is still my number 1 source of cals and sodium. I think it works great once you get your blend dialed in. Call the guys at Infinit and they'll help you figure out a good starting point if you can't figure out how to start by using the questionnaire on the website or just trying to free style.
They also occaisionally do 15% off deals, so watch out for coupon codes.

I'm lucky enough to live in Cincy where they're located, so I pick mine up directly and can get out of shipping charges. Even for ~$50 for 25 servings, I'd still say they're worth it. To conserve it, I really only use it on longer workouts (2h+ rides, or 1h30min+ runs).

I use Infinit and am a big fan. You can work with them and continue to refine/customize it to the right amounts of everything -- electrolytes, calories, flavor, etc...

But I also second the recommendation to also grab some salt tablets. I use Infinit on the bike, but I don't carry a water bottle on the run portion of my races, so salt tabs come in handy.

I use Infinit, but because of $ and custom ordering lag time, I don't use it on every training ride, just on the long stuff.

I did push it on the bike, but heart rate never went mush past LT..... a little bit for sure... Came off the bike feeling very fresh. First 3 miles were 7:15s..... the when I tried to drink more water..... the GI issues started..

I'm sure the effort on the bike made the GI issues more prevalent, I'm hoping sodium can help me keep the run up.

Thanks for advice, will be trying salt stick

I used Infinit for a little over a season.
I agree that their customer service can't be beat - they do everything possible to assist getting a formula that works. The founder even gave me his cell # to discuss some of the issues that I was having.
Unfortunately, we were just never able to come up with the 'right' mix that worked for me and with the $ involved for each attempt it got pricey.
I think it is a good product - but what works for one does not necessarily work for someone else.
I swear by Enduralytes for my electrolyte replenishment.

I was thinking the opposite. Last week I purchased 25 servings for about $50 after shipping. That's 25 servings of 308 calories each for less than $2 per serving. I can't think of a combination of sports drinks, gels, salt pills, beans, blocks, or whatever that would be cheaper per calorie. Fig Newtons, PBJ, chicken broth, and table salt might be cheaper, but it's harder to carry.

As for if it works, I'm still testing it. I've yet to feel great after any bike ride lasting more than 80 miles. Maybe I'm supposed to feel bad, maybe the nutrition still needs adjusted, or maybe I'm simply not in shape.
