Cool, we have the same birthday :). I thought about doing one too, but I would have been to stuffed from dinner the night before.

Just a short report, for a short triathlon. I did this one, even though sort of a silly cause (or at least seemed to me), because it was on my birthday.
Swim: 700 meters, more or less open water (in the ocean, but with a couple of groin breakwaters). The organizers didn't tell us when to go wait for the water start, so there was some treading water, and then basically the same course as the Tinman last month. I felt like I was keeping up the first 1/3, but then fell back. So I was 14th, with a time of 13:53. Transition slow, at 1:55, but I didn't put on a top or belt, so that helped a little.
Bike: A three loop ride around Le'ahi/Diamondhead, which I decided to do on my road bike, because it was just up and down a hill. I saw a lot of tt/triathlon bikes, but felt as though my choice was ok. Unfortunately, I forgot a water bottle, so I was hurting a bit by the time I got to the run. My total time for the bike was 40:48 for 12 miles, calculated as 17.6 for 8th place. Again, transition, including run out, was 1:30, ok, but could have been a bit quicker.
Run: I pretty much stopped at each H2O station (2) because of how dry I was, and ended up with 20:41 overall, which was calculated as a 6:41 pace for 5k. So overall 1:18:44, which was 46th overall, and 6/20 for my division.
Not bad, not great. I really need to work on my swim, which means finding time. Mahalo for reading.
