My job is to point and cheer. They gave me a spot that has no turns. Just heavy traffic so I'm there to keep riders and cars separate.
So we have:

Weather must be really hot and humid and making people struggle...
Just got back from my time volunteering. Weather was awesome. Very cool to start only in the low 80s by 3pm. The only thing that would have made it better is some clouds. Viktor Zyemtsev won and beat the course record. Luke McKenzie was close behind him despite having a 3 minute lead starting the run. Awesome race.
I tried to keep a lookout for the TriFuelers on the course but didn't see the bib numbers I was looking for. I'm definitely volunteering again next year - it was a ton of fun (plus you get a way cool t-shirt).
Derek is and so is lala. Jonhy in the last portion. Wow! make sure to post you report

I just got back home after spending 10+ hours at the finish line yesterday...5 volunteering and 5 having dinner/watching the late finishers. It was all very inspiring. Unfortunately, I didn't catch any of the trifuelers racing, by the time I ended my shift (around 12:30 finishers) the finish chute was a zoo with volunteers and finishers everywhere.
No real 17hour drama, last finisher crossed at 16:57, although there were probably 20 or so finishers in the 16:50-57 range, cutting it close. The most exciting late finish came when a young couple crossed together (around 16:20 or so) and then the guy dropped to a knee and proposed at the finish line (she said yes)...that got a solid cheer.
Also, the men's pro finish was dramatic...watched on the big screen as Zyemstev caught McKenzie around mile 23 and ran off his shoulder. Video cut out at mile 25, so then we waited...Zyemstev came in and McKenzie was in the chute as he finish (35secs back). McKenzie crossed, then laid down and cried...it was tough to watch...he led the first 23 miles of the marathon and didn't lose the lead until the last mile.
This morning, before heading home...my dad, sister, and myself all bit the bullet and signed up for Louisville 2010...no going back now!
Wow I didn't realize how many people were
paying attention. I will have to post a report. It was
a crazy day

This was in another post but I thought I'd start one specifically for IMKY bib numbers: so who's what?
