Bad luck or not?

The other morning I was running at 5:30 in the pitch black and a black cat came out of nowhere and started running along side me then started to try and attack my leg. It scared the crap out of me at first but then it was just annoying. I may or may not have kicked it, on accident of course (please note the sarcasm in my tone). I had to speed up the pace so it wouldn't cross in front of me. Who needs the extra bad luck. Any other good "when animals attack" stories?

Suddenly the little kitty doesn't seem as bad.

To say I ride in the country is a very gross understatement. Every time I do one specific loop there are two dogs which I am pretty sure are going to get caught in my bike one day, or dive and tackle me as I ride my. They actually chase me for more than a mile every time, I consider it my sprint portion of my ride.

I've been dive-bombed by birds, seems that my yellow helmet antagonizes several species...

bunnies, some deer, a couple ground hogs, geese and a couple of ducks...that is about it for me.

Bambi, I have had several encounters with Bambi & his kin this summer, but they have only ever stood by and watched as I went by, thank God.

Oh, there is this little weasel of a mutt that has ambitions waaay above his ability, but I just tell him firmly, "Go home now" and it seems to work.

There is a section of my regular run route where everyone has a dog and an electric fence. Every time I run down this particular street, every dog comes running out to the edge of the property and barks his head off. I love it! It's hilarious. I just pretend I am finishing a race and they are the spectators cheering me on...or telling me to HTFU. Depends on the breed I guess ; )

depends on where you come from, in my culture a black cat crossing your path is good luck! The only animals I meet on my rides go flying past on those Giant bikes... UPHILL

I had a dog rip a hole in the crack of my running tights. I had the joy of running home after that with a partial cheek showing. Lucky me, no skin was broken.

I was dive-bombed by a bird this summer. Came swooping down & hit the front of my helmet! It was a sunny day, and I'd noticed by their shadows they were flying really close to me, but I never thought they'd attack.

+1 TriAu... We must live in the same part of the country. I too have these two darn dogs that chase me on my bike every freakin Saturday. I definitly have to crank up the gears when I get to that portion of my ride. If they could I think they would actually attack if they could catch me. There bark is not a normal bark and is more of an agressive attack.

got another one for you guys. About 6 months ago I was on a long ride on a Sunday morning and was going slow because I was taking down gu, water, and a power bar (great breakfast). Obviously I was only using one hand to steer. All of a sudden a opposum jumped out from a bush and was right in front of me starring me down. My first reaction was to swirve, which I did. Of course I over swirved, and had to make a choice. Continue on my current path to road rash, or swirve/ fip myself the other way and through myself in the bushes. I choose the later of the two!
