Ironman Community only?
link?
Without looking, sounds like they're referring to registration status and that only community fund spots are left. Anyone can be part of that community, provided they're willing to part with $1300 to $1600.

+1 As of Aug. 8, Ironman CDA (Idaho) is still open for "general" registration (ie, plop down your CC# with $585 and you're in). The other races are open only for "community fund" slots, which is some deal Ironman Inc. has worked out with the host cities where late-registrants pay - as PJT noted - an extra grand or so that then goes to the Ironman host community. So, "community" just means a premium which is paid to the host city.
Sounds real weird from where I am.

That's not too weird. Heck, they do charity slots for sprints. Just in this case the charity is the local community. Which, given the scope of IMs, sounds reasonable to me.

I did IM AZ in April 2008 with the Community Fund, when it was only $500 extra. Given the expense involved in training, equipment, travel, hotel, time ... what is an additional $500-$1000? You get a few extra premiums, but mostly it just costs more.
Finishing the race is the only thing that validates the cause.
See you at timberman!

I was looking about possibly doing my Ironman next year since i am doing a HIM (Timberman) on Aug 23rd in New Hampshire and was noticing how it says for every single Ironman in the US besides Idaho, "Ironman Community only". I dont plan on calling myself an Ironman after completing my HIM but will I be part of the "Ironman Community" after that sanctioned race? Thanks
