I did the Hagg Lake sprint triathlon a while ago, and never got around to writing a race report. I enjoy writing them and overviewing my race, so I decided to write one even though its late. This race did not have an elite wave, so I got to start in the first wave. I wrote my time, and then how much I cut from last year.

SWIM: I felt really good, and came out of the water with the same time as my main competition.
TIME: 11:15 (-0:34)

T1: I took my wetsuit off on the run from the lake to the transition area, and I think that it really paid off. I had one of the fastest transitions, of the day!
TIME: 1:42 (-1:42)

BIKE: The bike leg was good, and on a small out and back on the course, I saw that I was a good bit in front of all my age group competition. That seemed to give me some extra oomph, and the rest of the bike seemed to fly by. I also seemed to notice that many people seem to power up hills and then leisurely coast down them. I found myself passing many of the people on the way down a hill, that had passed me on the way up.
TIME: 37:10 (-5:45)

T2: Coming into T2 I felt well, but I thought I would be behind by a bit. Well I come through the transition area 6th overall.
TIME: 0:55 (-0:01)

RUN: I left on the run behind the guy in 5th place. The run is not my strength so I thought I would just try to keep up, but about a half mile in I felt that I could go faster. I passed him and never looked back. I felt better than I ever had on the run, and the cheering crowd, as well as the people at the aid station certainly helped. The run was an out and back so I got a chance to see that I would keep my 5th place spot.
TIME: 20:39 (my fastest 5k! -7:22)

OVERALL: 1:11:42 (-15:24)

This was by far my best performance in a triathlon, all you here at trifuel really provided me with awesome pointers that I am sure helped me in my performance. Thank you!

Tired is a state of mind, exhaustion is a state of body.
