NIce effort and good evaluation. 21m from last year is huge!

Great job on the PR! Dont be to to critical on your self evaluation but an honest breakdown of your performance is great for this race in years to come and for all races in the future!

looking back, definitely not my best effort, but it didn't feel that bad, so i need to reevaluate. i got up early, got my stuff and rode down to kapi'olani park, where the transitions and swim were. easy to find a good spot, and not a lot of people at 415.
i parked my bike, warmed up a bit and then headed down to the ocean. it didn't look that rough, but i waited for my wave (3rd), and then we swam out to the start. it was a bit choppy, and there was plenty of reef not so far away. i actually thought that i swam faster than i did, but ended up towards the back of the back. 17:45.7 for 750 m (although i am sure that i saw more with the chop).
t1: didn't feel that slow, but ended up, with the run in from the beach, 2:57.
bike: i usually end up riding with my feet on top of the shoes for a while, which is what i did again. i'm doing a very low tech race style lately, so i really didn't know how fast i went. but for 40k, 1:14:50.
t2: much better, shorter run in to park the bike, got my glasses, and started out. 1:05
run: i'm trying to get my legs warmed up on the last part of the bike (a little sprinting and a lot more spinning), which was ok. the run was much hotter, but i didn't really get passed by too many people, which was ok. 46:12 for 10k, overall 2:22:52.
compared to 2 years ago, i did 21 minutes better this year, but i still felt slow. hopefully i'll do better my next race.
