also, I'm probably going to jump in this time--> have any of you former participants noticed a difference from this? (more than a yes or no would be appreciated)

oh, it's started! :)

damn straight...my first daily point total was 3c, and i'm not all that rigorous about this
also, I'mprobablygoing to jump in this time-->
FTFY :)
The biggest difference for me has been my ability to hold the aero position for a longer time. My runs and swims have improved, but I can't say that the core challenge is responsible for that. Bottom line is a feel better than I have in the 4 years of triathlon and it is the 1st time I have been consistent with core work.

Count me in for this haha was looking at it last time thinking ahhh just a bit too late.
No excuses this time!!!!!!!
Now all i have to do is finish work...
also, I'm probably going to jump in this time--> have any of you former participants noticed a difference from this? (more than a yes or no would be appreciated)
I've noticed a big difference. After the first challenge, I noticed a difference in my posture while running and felt stronger over all. After the 2nd challenge, I actually started to see my abs, which is a pretty wild sight for a mom of four. I wish I could tell you that I value my improved physical performance over the fact that I can now wear a bikini to the local pool, but that would be a bold faced lie!
I'm back in...and I am going to work on my nutrition as well this time.
That which does not kill me makes me faster...
HI yep I am in.
I did the core challenge last time. There is a before and after shot on my profile. For me apart from the visual difference, I am holding myself straighter, I am faster on the bike, I have less fatigue after a work out. So yep there is a difference. I am hoping this time to at least break a 100 points.

I won't wear a bikini, I am so jealous toni- didn't you have twins too? I can see my abs, but I am too self conscious still.
on another note- 8c today :)

Sounds like fun. I'll see how many points I can rack up after work today.
Would be great if we could also share some "ab friendly" nutrition tips on here too.

jtrimom, remember I live in southern nj, land of the couch potatoes. If you saw the folks at my pool, you'd probably be darn proud to wear a bikini ; )
3 pts for me today
That which does not kill me makes me faster...
1 point for the first day here
one point for today- just the normal stuff since family is here and it is nice at the beach.
10 points today.
+1 to Toni. Recently got back from the Southern Jersey shore. It was hard to find a fit looking person on the beach.

6 pts for me today.
5 points plus 1. You guys have no idea how good it feels to write up the plus one. Finally.
Talking of the beach. I know the feeling about looking for fit people... lots of unfit people... it begins to make you question everything when you start to get truly fit and well in yourself.

I guess I just hang out at my gym pool, and the people who "catch my eye" are the fit ones. I am likely being too hard on myself, but some days, that is what pushes me to go harder and longer (but it's never enough)...I blame my parents ;) I need therapy

Here's your therapy assignment. Throw on a bikini and walk around like you own the place. Who cares what anyone thinks. Plus, we all know you could kick their butts in a foot race any day of the week.

I think I might start off buying one, and just walking around my house like I own the place :)...then maybe move to the backyard to tan my never-seen-the-sun-midsection, before I actually go out in public

After a week break to recharge the batteries and regenerate the core muscles, here we go again. It starts on Monday, July 27th.
Round 5
Continued core through the race season and summer should be a challenge. As always, everyone is welcome to participate as much as or as little as you would like.
Rules:
1. 100 reps = 1 point.
2. 1 minute of timed exercises(planks etc.) = 50 reps.
3. Core specific exercises only. Abs, obliques, lower back.
4. Begin July 27 and End September 14 (The 14th counts for total pts).
5. You are NOT out if you miss a day, but the goal is to work the core for 50 straight days.
6. On this thread, we can post our daily or weekly totals and share routines/results. etc.
7. The picture page can be used for those interested in before and after pics.
8. Pushups should be counted separately and should remain in their own category.
50 pushups = 1 point.
9. Determine the added worth of certain exercises and give yourself the extra points.
Ex. Reverse roman chair leg raises might be worth double. So 50 = 1 point.
This is not a competition, it is for personal improvement, so this won't be a problem.
Good luck.
