Back in School... sooo Collegiate Nationals
Which school do you go to? Check on your school's website, because if they have a tri club it should say how to join it, where practices are, who leads them, etc. Then, you basically have to qualify in your own team. I'm not sure exactly how many people from each team can enter into the race, but it shouldnt be too hard if your pretty fit. I went there for the Twenty-12 Talent ID race and ALOT of people from the collegiate teams werent that fit. And to your comment about the times, it was a RIDICULOUSLY hard course. The water was around 53 degrees fahrenheit for the collegiate racers, along with 40-45 degree air temperatures in the morning, not to mention some very very tough hills AND the wind was INSANE. On flats where i would normally be going close to 22-24mph (i had a draft-legal rig) i was going closer to 14 or 15. Crazy headwinds.

Good to know, so the trick is the club has to be an official NCAA team or USAT recognized?
Oh, and I was looking at 2009 times. Where you there too?
it has to be recognized by USAT because triathlon isnt an NCAA sport.
i was at the 09 twenty-12 talent ID race, but dealt with gastrointestinal issues on the run, so did awfully overall.

Sorry to hear. Thanks for the info. hopefully I can get UM to get a team together enough to go to nationals this year. It looks like '07 was the last time they were there. What Uni do/did you race for?
are you talking about U of Miami? Cause if so i'm actually considering going there for college.

nope, actually as far away from that as you can get. university of Montana

The subject says most of it. I'm going back to college and I'm wondering what's the story with Collegiate races and how do you get to collegiate nationals? I'm looking at the times from 2008 and either it's a hell of a hard course or I could totally race in the top 20% of the field. Do you have to qualify for this event?
