after 30-45 minutes on a trainer, my legs usually feel amazing. i'd like to do this as a warm up for a sprint tomorrow. anyone tried to set up a trainer in a parking lot? suggestions or opinions please!

It's only a sprint, so sure...do it. Folks might mistake you for some pro though!

that is what i'm worried about! To make matters worse, i am "seeded" (and will start) 16th out of 650... i have a feeling i'm getting passed a lot tomorrow!

I've done it a bunch of times. It's nicer than having to warm up in the dark on the road while people are still arriving.

I think it's a great idea. Take your trainer, set it up right by your car (not in the T area), slap on some headphones and a sweatshirt and get a good roll going. I'd probably get in a quick 250m-500m swim first, then :30 on the bike. I'd try to time it to where I'd get off the bike, unhook it from the trainer, swtich skewers and rack it, then jump right into the #16 swim start.

ok, are you serious or kidding? 'Cause that is pretty much the race. I just call my swim the warm up and call it good :)

I'm doing a 300m pool swim tri tomorrow. I'll probably do about 1000m warm-up.

+ hop on that bugger and spin, add a gel, some water, cool it off with the swim start and race.

I learned long ago that the shorter the race, the longer the warmup. I won't do a sprint with less than 30 minutes warming up minimum. A trainer is perfect for this!

I was planning on doing this (bike on trainer) at a recent sprint but just couldn't find the courage. It's on my plan now for my next sprint!

The thing that really sealed the deal for me was that I would have to be sitting on my bike with my helmet on to make sure I didn't get disqualified. Of course I'd probably want my Ipod on too. Seems like a grey area in the rules. The local RD is pretty strict. I'll have to ask him at the next event to see what he'd do to someone on their trainer.

Congrats on the podium! Awesome feeling, isnt it?

A through warmup makes a big difference. I typically do a few hundred in the water, run around, and do lots of running drills to get my legs moving. I have done the trainer thing in the past, but I personally get better results the other way.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
