First Tri - Sprint: Metroman - Asbury Park, NJ
Congrats on your first tri--its good that you got one done in open water before swimming in the hudson. Your run was great though.
i did this one also, but the intermediate---came 7th place in the first race, then i think i came top 5 in the sprint for cash race afterwards--that was a fun one.
good luck in NYC, its supposed to be a fun race, but from what i hear swimming in the hudson can get pretty rough, and not because of any waves or anything like that (p.s. JELLYFISH). Supposively people get stung through their wetsuits. But what doesnt kill you makes you stronger! Survive the swim, hammer the bike, and run alot of people down.

Good luck at NYC. It is a challenging venue. Much, much hillier than MetroMan, especially Cental Park. Best part is running up 72nd st to the park.
Thanks for the comments and support!
Good Job!!.
NYC is a little longer and a bit more congested but it is a blast.
Have fun, and keep your mouth closed during the swim.
The Hudson tastes nasty, take my word for it ;-)

I completed my first triathlon last Sunday in Asbury Park, NJ. It was the sprint distance Metroman, put on by Sunset Racing. Weather was good. I am still riding high on the thrill of completion.
My race splits were:
500m Ocean Swim: 19:113
T1: 2:06
10.54mi Bike: 35:35
T2: 1:04
5k Run: 19:55
Total: 77:53
Overall I was really happy with timing. I was using the race as a learning experience for the Nautica NYC Triathlon next weekend.
While I was most concerned about the swim, after looking at my times, I think I could have performed much better on the bike.
All in all - great experience. Can't wait for next weekend.
