2nd year of IMRI-
Got to Providence on Saturday and checked in no problems at all this year. I meet up with a friend and dropped off my run bag and headed to the beach to drop off my bike.
Went to bed at 10pm the night before and had a little trouble sleeping. My friend drove me to the beach by 5:15am and I was warming up and getting ready for the swim. The water was extremely choppy and windy; the announcement before the race was "if you aren't comfortable with Open Water Swimming then you have the option to do a Duathlon." my wave was up and I dove into the choppy waters; felt a little disorientated during the swim by felt strong coming out of the waters. The bike was rolling hills the whole way with a few bumps here and there; I was a few mintues faster on the bike this year; but man I had to pee really bad. I got off the bike and walked up "the hill" both times and hit a porta potty. The run was for the most part easy besides the hill and great aid stations.
I finished in 5:38 a PR by over 10 mintues and 10 seconds (including the potty break)
Next stop IMWI......(I still get chills at mile 69.....)
