Heart / Computer Question

OK so i am looking at getting a new HRM/Computer before i begin my IM training latter this fall. I am looking at getting one of the many garmin products. I am interested in the 310, but i am wondering if a dedicated bike computer like one of the edge products and a simple watch/HRM for running would be a better solution. So i guess really my question is what do you use and if you could change what would you go with. Thanks for your opinion.

well what do you wnt it to do? I got a basic polar to keep me from going out too hard and to give me the basic HR info for training. I don't want to know bike speed/power/distance/cadence cause that'd just be depressing to watch for 6+ hours - just my .02

i want to have all the items that you said you do not want to watch. i like to have all that information for training, it is nice to keep all that information. Right now i have a cateye with speed/cadence, and a polar HRM.

cool if that's what you want I woudl think 1 simple package would be easiest. maybe not cheap but easy

I have a Polar with a speed and cadence sensor so I can track time, mph, cadence , average mph, and HR. It is waterproof so I wear it in a race from start to finish, but my model (s570) doesn't have the footpod, which is fine I usually run on a trail with mile markers for my long stuff and can do the math for the shorter stuff I already know the distance on. I don't know why you wouldn't want that stuff--it helps you at the very least keep track of progress.

I am thinking about the new 310 though just because it seems kinda cool, even though I don't NEED it. :)

yeah i think guess really thinking about it i am going to get the 310XT which will have all that I want in one package. i guess it was just one of those times when you have to say something out load for you to realize what you want.
