IMLP Road Surface Conditions.
Sounds like a great time, Anton!
I was up there the weekend of June 13-14th and work was just starting on the cascade lake area. I was hoping that they'd lay some fresh asphalt there! I found this video on line which was nice to see: http://start-tri.com/lake-placid-ironman-course-update/
I wish I could have ridden on it like you! :)
There were 2 strips on the Hasselton out and back that ran perpendicular to the road that were a bit sketchy, like a trench had been covered up, and a strip of gravel/dirt over one of the bridges in the same area... was that still there when you were up there?
Nope...not there. All good!
I'll Post a "who's goin" thread about two weeks out.. between participants and volunteers, it looks like it will be a Trifuel crowd!
Nice video...except for the bloody soundtrack! Yikes!

Hey !
Just got back from some training time in Placid and thought I'd share with the IMLP bound folks some info on the condition of the roads...that is if you haven't had the chance to get there yourself for some T-time.
Leaving town on the bike course the road surface and shoulder area are...ok. There has been some deterioration over previous years and a few spots on the shoulder and several feet into the lane are questionable...Stay alert.
A great paving job has produced a fine road surface going though the Cascade Lakes area. An area that was always a little sketchy. The paving continues for a bit down the drop into Keene then reverts to the old road surface...again ,ok but be aware. Bad road at 55mph is no fun!
Nothing really questionable on the road through Upper Jay, Jay and into Wilmington. On the road out to Black Brook (the out and back) OHHHH Bay-bay! Most of the road has been resurfaced recently and is awesome!
There was some patching and other road work going on now between Wilmington and Lake Placid...The road crew guys didn't know if there would be resurfacing or not before the race.
Now...the run course. While yes, it doesn't have that much of an effect on you, the Riverside road is having large sections totally resurfaced. It was a pleasure to run on.
They have no plans to resurface the swim....
