Sindballe ends career
That is soo sad. Such a great competitor and a monster of an athlete. He will be missed for sure.
He trained and accomplished so much with a bad valve! Incredible athlete!

Wow! I am new to this sport but I sure know that name. I have watched him over and over again on my 2008 Kona dvd. I will miss watching him compete in Kona this year. It sure puts things in perspective. I was feeling down because I may have to miss the marathon portion of my race in a few weeks due to an SI Joint dysfunction....this guy just ended a career because of a heart condition! I think I will get over my little problem:)
I always paid attention to him because he never made it look easy. He always seemed to struggle with the heat and the running. His powerful bike leads always got eaten up by smaller, lighter runners. I still cheered for him because he rode an Argon18 - a brand I don't see often. I ride an old beat up aluminum frame Argon18 myself most of the time.
I wish him well and a long healthy life outside of the pro circuit!
WOW, bummer!

That's way sad. I loved watching that guy. He always seemed like someone who wasn't really born to be a triathlete, and yet he was always near the top of the elite ranks.
I think the saddest part is that he never won in Kona. That's gotta be hard to get so close so many times and never win it. That heat just destroyed him.

He was always an awesome competitor, and he rocked on the bike!

Sad to see him call it quits but at the same time happy to see he put his health above his professional goals. I'll miss seeing him rock the bike in Kona. He was never built for that race but damn it if he wasn't going to find a way to give himself a chance to win. I've got a lot of respect for his hard work and determination.

One of the best riders! Such a great athlete...all what he did with a defective valve. He will be missed.

Sad day for triathlon. He'll be remembered for his strength and badassness.

Watching Kona won't be nearly as much fun this year. He always made the race interesting.

Torbjorn calls it quit due to health issues. He has what is called a bicuspid aortic valve. Sad day for Triathlon, he is a great competitor...
