Gummi Bears
Sharkies are gummy bears with electrolytes. Or you could just use regular gummy bears if just wanting the cals/sugar. But if the half is in 3 weeks you might want to just stick to what you know works for you... not a lot of time left to play around with the nutrition.

sharkies get all goopy in my teeth. I love gummi bears during races as a treat. I use the sour ones though. I've already bought 3 packs but unfortunately keep eating them and the race isn't until Sunday.
I haven't been sucked in by Sharkies...not nearly as nummy as gummi bears! Sport Beans are awesome, but not much in the way of cals. I am a self confessed chocolate whore, so prefer eatmore bars and pop tarts (not as carry-able in a tri, but use them in bike races). Eatmores can be smushed up and they age really well! I find though that by the run of an HIM I am not eating much as my gut is starting to give me a hard time. I go to gels and carb drinks by then personally. But, kylie nailed it, use what you know works cause the portapotties on the course are naaaaasty!
I love Gummi Bears if they are the course, but I do like Shot Bloks as well.
In fact I'll pretty much eat anything, my stomach is like a Flux Capacitor.
I try a lot of things to see what works. Make sure you do this before race day so you don't have to experience too many porta potties ;-P
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'
Hmmm wine gums anyone? Haribo?

Brilliant! My first marathon I ate GU, a twinkie and skittles. The skittles left my mouth feeling gross, but didn't really kick me in the gut. Generally, I think a lot of sugar on runs or strenuous activity is just asking for a trip to the porta potties. I wish I had Dean Karnazes' stomach. Dude orders pizzas to be delivered to intersections, and eats a whole pie on his runs.
I had pretty good results with pretzels. I think the combination of salt and starch worked out well. I wasn't crazy about how crunchy they were - they took a little time to chew and eat.

Last week on my bike ride I tried Shot Bloks instead of my usual GU. They really hurt my teeth...don't know if it's the sweetness or what. A lot of athletes around here talk about Gummi Bears. How do those stack up against the other options. I like Sport Beans so there are other things...but just wondering. Looking for something for my HIM coming up in three weeks...ARGHHHHHHH!!!
