Does anyone have a training plan that they would suggest for a full iron man? I purchased a half im plan from bodyzen.com and really enjoyed it but if anyone has one that has been helpful to them i would be grateful or a suggested place to purchase it The only specific that i need, is one that is a 6 days training one day rest plan. I have had several knee surgeries and i really need a full rest day each week.

thanks

Ummmm......trifuel.com? There are training plans here on trifuel from sprint distance all the way up to the grand daddy of them all. Good luck!

Go with trifuel.com's plan. You are guaranteed to get six-pack abs, legs like twisted rebar, and cruise to a single-digit finish - or your money back!

It's from the guy who runs opentri dot com, but Trifuel's community is 100x more active. Plenty of people here have used the above-mentioned plan as such, you can ask questions and get good feedback. If I recall, Mondays are always off days. Repeat after me: "Mondays are off days."

There's a bunch of us using the plan from this site and I think the you'll hear all of us say we are very happy with it. Its free and there are plenty of people on this site to get advice from on the plan. You get Friday off in the plan which I've found to be perfect for a rest day before the big weekend workouts. Read through it and I think you'll see why many of us use it.

I follow the Trifuel plan..but change it up. Monday's off, instead of Friday, don't split the long run on the weekend, stuff like that...Sometimes, if I feel real wacked, I'll take two days off.
That plan and tons of free, spot on, advice here will see you through.

I use the plan from this site. I have 6 weeks to go for my race and unfortunately got injured...running...what else! Although no fault of the training program! The first part has Fridays as rest days, but once you get to the Competitive season, Monday's are the off days. I've always taken Monday's off. I need that day to recover from the warrior weekends they have planned! I too take an extra day off during the week if I need it!

I was splitting the long runs on the weekends and at first I wasn't going to, didn't see the benefit, but ended up following the program. For my next race, I will not split them unless someone can shed some light on this as to why they have you splitting them.

Thanks!

I too follow the program and also add some 20 mile runs on the weekends and add a little more to some of the weekday rides.

That's the deal with 'generic' plans - you can and should modify them to fit your schedule and your stengths/weaknesses. They're just suggestions and guides. After a few weeks on the plan (if that long) you'll know where to make modifications.
