Can anyone tell me what kind of difference a crank can make.

I have a litspeed tychon and the crank is just the standard that came with the bike. BUt i have seen zipp and sram both have high end crank upgrades. Will it make that big of a difference?

Thanks

What cranks do you currently have, how many miles have you ridden and how well have you been keeping up on maintenance on the bottom bracket?

The Red or Vuma Quad cranks would be a noticeable upgrade from, say, FSA Gossamer, but if you're already running on a Dura Ace 7800, you'll probably be downgrading and would be better off just replacing the bottom bracket cups if they're not smooth. You can get after-market ceramic bb's for most common cranks which will be cheaper than a new system, and give you the same performance.

+1 google "ceramic bottom bracket". IMHO, the biggest difference in cranks is in total weight. 175mm is 175mm. You have to turn them same fashion. Preferably, though, you would have a lighter crankset and you'd minimize the internal resistance by getting a good bottom bracket with ceramic bearings.
