Awesome! I love passing really cool bikes even more than I love drooling over them in the transition area.
"Faster would be better!" -Captain Mal, Serenity-

Yesterday I kicked of my tri season with the Blue Lake sprint triathlon. I have done this race for 4 or 5 years, and it was the first triathlon I ever did. I was so excited by my performance this year I thought I would give a race report!!
PRE RACE: I arrived at the race about an hour and a half before the first wave. I set up my transition area, and hoped for my fastest transitions ever.
SWIM: I used my new orca wetsuit (with plenty of pam!), but unfortunately experienced a lot of shoulder discomfort. Despite problems I had a 12:00 minute swim, slower than what I would've liked, but ok. (-53 seconds)
T1: When I started running from the water to T1 I could really feel the unusually large amount of water I had swallowed during the swim. I still hoped for a good rest of the race. As I ran through the transition I passed my transition area and had to double back, but I got a 2:42 transition. (-1:25)
BIKE: I felt awesome on the bike passed the only other person in my age group ahead of me and never looked back. I felt awesome and took a gel a little over halfway through, overall I had a 34:21 bike time. I have a previously owned aluminum specialized transition comp with stock wheels, and passed a few people on carbon tri bikes and race wheels it felt soooooo good!! (-2:18)
T2: After the bike I was ready to have a blazing fast transition, and that I did. I flew transition with a 1:09! (-1:31)
RUN: My stomach was killing me, but I saw someone in front of me with a fairly quick pace. I stuck with her the whole time and ended up passing her in the last 1k. I had a 23:30 run time giving me a 7:30 mile pace. I still hope to get my run pace down to a 7:10, but that will come with time. (-2:53)
Overall I placed 36th out of 608, and won my age group. I was super happy with my time and cut 9 minutes overall! I am so excited and now have a newfound confidence in my triathlon potential. I want to thank everyone here on Trifuel for being so helpful with all of my questions, everybody has so much good advice!
PS: With this result and hopefully more like this do you guys think I might be able to get sponsored? If so how do you suggest I go about it?
Tired is a state of mind, exhaustion is a state of body.
