Wisdom teeth keep me from training
Sorry to hear that deepblue. What a weird thing to keep you from training. Hope you feel better soon. And +1 to getting them out early. I ruined $5k worth of dental work before I had them out.
That which does not kill me makes me faster...
Bummer :(
Hope you feel better soon!!!
That's a bummer, deepblue! I got mine pulled a little over a month ago. I'm also in my 30's but luckily I only had the ones on top. One was an easy pull, the other a little more slicing. It's still feeling a tad funky on the side where I had the stitches, but fortunately I was back training after a day, though with some caution. I made sure I had them pulled on my rest day. :-) Did take a lot of ibuprofin for about a week and avoided flip turns for a while.
Hope you are back in action soon!

Thanks all - my top wisdoms came out no problem. I don't even feel those at all. My bottom ones were the real tricky ones - impacted and growing sideways and as big as old growth trees. The swelling alone pushed my teeth around for the first couple of weeks so that my bite was off center but now things have come down to a normal alignment again. It's just weird to have a lower jaw pain (which actually translates into deep ear pain) act as a heart rate limiter. I would start lifting something around the house and bam, I feel like I have drillbits inside my ears. I think once the soft tissue gets built up, I'll be able to get back to it. I think another couple weeks should do it. I was not chewing for a couple of weeks and in that short amount of time, my jaw muscles got really weak. I am back on solid foods again and I found it a real muscular effort to exert biting pressure again.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted a little over 2 weeks ago. I am in my 30s so there was some dry socket pain and big roots. I'm healing fine (just started eating solid foods again after a couple of weeks) but I remain unable to train because I still have tenderness in my jaws. Everytime I get my heart rate up, I feel the painful pulse in my jaw where my teeth are now missing. I've been taking it easy by sitting around and not doing much. Can't do weights, can't do aerobics. Light walks is the most I can manage for now.
This is a slow freaking recovery.
So let that be a lesson. Get your wisdom teeth out early... I thought mine wouldn't bother me but they eventually started crowding my mouth and I put it off some more due to a busy working schedule.
