I am participating in my first sprint soon, and I was planning to wear a pair of tri shorts under my wetsuit. I don't plan on wearing biking shorts because i've read that "it feels like you're wearing a diaper" when running. Any good suggestions of the types/brand/characteristics I should look at or be looking for? Thanks!

I recommend the DeSoto Powershorts. They have enough padding to be comfortable, and the pad will easily dry out on the bike before you start running. Gotta ask, where's the event? It must be some pretty dang cold water (Pacific?, 68 degrees or less) to require a wetsuit to swim a sprint distance!

If its SF bay, you couldnt get me in that water without a friggin DRY suit! I'll stick to my 80degree gulf water, thankyouvery much.

As far as short, I have the Pearl Izumis and they work for me. Havent tried any others yet...

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I wear the DeSoto shorts too. They are nice and not super expensive!

Trianimal,

Do you actually hand wash those things like they recommend? I only use mine for races (and minimal pre-race dress-up outings) and so far have not had the courage to put them in the washer. Just curious if it can be done without damage?

Thanks for the input. The race will be at Lake San Antonio in California. The temp is between 65-68 degrees. I jumped in the other day w/o a wetsuit for about 25 yards and it was too cold for me.

Just an update: I bought a pair of pearl izumi shorts tri shorts. I've used them once so far, but I can say that I definetly like them better than the pair of shorts I have been using (just simple cotton shorts). Thanks for the tips!

louis garneau (mispel?) have been my clothing of choice since i started, no complaints on sprint of olympic distances...........

i prefer the six inch inseam, but i do believe they offer abit longer for guys who prefer abit more clothing.

good colors, easy to run in, but abit pricy......
