Wetsuits-Making the cut
I personally would never cut a wetsuit. If you "give it a shot" and hate it then your out the money for the normal wetsuit. -side note: If you arent a strong swimmer then I would keep the legs the way they are, it will help keep your lower half boyant and give you a better postition in the water. Any time savings you get by taking off your wetsuit 5 seconds faster will be negated by having poor position in the water and working harder to keep pace. I say keep the suit the way it is and invest in some bodyglide with some more time working on getting in and out of the thing. Just my .o2.
I agree completely with CadenceGuy. Try some lube (it must be an accepted method of lubrification from your wetsuit manufacture). Give this a shot before taking the scisors out.

Pam cooking spray isn't a good idea? I've seen that at races. Noobs.

Check the wetsuit manufacturer's website or give them a call. Some suits are designed to allow trimming up to a certain point.
I agree that the cut on the lower leg seems to make getting out of the suit much easier. De Soto makes their suits with an irregular cut on the lower legs and removal is a breeze.
+1 to PJT
Just got a De Soto for myself and getting out of it was very easy. No tuggin or pulling, just slides off.

So a buddy of mine went to a wetsuit clinic to try them out for the first time. He said it was super easy to get in and out of a wetsuit that had a portion of the legs chopped off. He claimed it was about 8" below his knees (on a 6'1" guy). I have had some issues getting in and out of the suit this year (bigger muscles, same size suit) and I am thinking about giving this a shot. I was warned not make sure I cut before a seam or something, otherwise it could come apart.
Any advice and/or experience on this would be greatly appreciated and will likely be helpful for this weekend, hopefully shorting my T1.
Thanks in advance!
