My wife and I decided to turn our guest bedroom into a workout room. It's looking really nice with a trainer, Bowflex, a big high speed fan on the all, LCD TV/Monitor, and soft mats on the floor. I thought about decorating it with inspirational posters, but then I had the idea to write quotes on the walls. I remember reading this thread a while back with some good quotes in it. Let me know what good ones I'm missing. We aren't sure how many quotes we'll put up, but here are the ones that I like so far. Only one from Patton and Bear Bryant will be used, but they are all good and I'm not sure which...

""Life should NOT be a journey
to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and
well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways, Champagne in
one hand - strawberries in the
other, body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming
'Holy shit - What
a Ride!'"
— Mavis Leyrer

“Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him."
- Woody Hayes

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift."
- Pre

"The test of success is not what you do when your on top. Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom."
- General George S. Patton, Jr

"You're never beaten until you admit it."
- General George S. Patton, Jr

"If you are going to win any battle, you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do... the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
-General George S. Patton

"It's not the will to win that matters - everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters."
- Paul Bear Bryant

"The first time you quit, it's hard. The second time, it gets easier. The third time, you don't even have to think about it."
- Paul Bear Bryant

My swim coach uses this quote all of the time and I LOVE it,
"Tired is a state of mind,
exhaustion is a state of body."

Tired is a state of mind, exhaustion is a state of body.

My favorite - "You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt.

And an old high school coach used to say "I can't means I won't, I won't means pushups". Not sure where it originated, but it's a good one.

TryScott - Do a search in the forums. I think this topic has come up multiple times so you'll likely find some good suggestions from earlier threads.

"There's nothing more painful than regret." - No Fear Shirt

My dad, who was also my high school swim coach, gave me a t-shirt with this saying on it when I was a junior in high school. Since than if has become a pillar on which I base many of my life decisions.

You base your life decisions on a no fear t-shirt?

BTW, I heard once that breaking the femur is the most painful thing a person can experience, maybe even worse than regret.

My new favorite is my old training partner yelling at me: "Stop feeling sorry for yourself...Focus!" That usually snaps me out of my funk and gets me back on pace.

I used to like "pain is weakness leaving the body" but then i did my first HIM and then I realized a few hours in that pain is actually weakness entering the body.

If you go the motivational poster route, make sure you throw in one of these (probably on the back of the door) to keep it light and keep any visitors guessing...

I just thought of this one this morning as I was running this hill this morning being passed by some cars - "Make it look easy." That got me through my hill repeats.

Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.
