Training Sick
i've always gone by if its from the neck up its ok to keep working out- just listen to your body and don't over do it. if its from the neck down you should wait it until your over it to keep training. the main thing is to make sure you're drinking lots of fluid and getting enough rest- if you over do exert yourself your body won't have any energy to fight off an infection and you may stay sick longer or get worse. do what feels best for your body.
+1 to it being okay to train (not necessarily go crazy) if it's purely a head cold. I've got one going right now as well, but was still able to do my first century yesterday. I think working out aerobically helps me with a head cold since it gets a lot of the congestion to loosen up a bit.
Sometimes I actually feel no longer "sick" when training. When I stop I feel sick again. Other times I am too sick to make it out the door, which means no training.
+2 Neck up ok unless you have a temp. neck down (chest cold etc.) no go. That is what I go by. Sometimes I can't wait to get out if I have a head cold. Usually a work out helps to get things flowing - even if it is only for a little bit.

If/when i get cold or something, i make myself get out the door and run, or ride on the bike trainer, it helps me to get read of the sickness, it's hard and i can't go hard nor fast but at that stage that is not the point.
So go for it.

Hey gang, I miss having net access available so I can participate on the forms.
I'm just wondering what you all think about training while you are sick. I've had a head cold for 3 days and have decided to not stop training. however, while sick i've dialed the intensity way back and looked at some temp and technique things. What do you people think about this? Good Idea, bad idea, what say ye?
