Round 4
Core through the race season and summer should be a challenge. As always, everyone is welcome to participate as much as or as little as you would like.

Rules:
1. 100 reps = 1 point.
2. 1 minute of timed exercises(planks etc.) = 50 reps.
3. Core specific exercises only. Abs, obliques, lower back.
4. Begin May 26 and End July 14 (The 14th counts for total pts).
5. You are NOT out if you miss a day, but the goal is to work the core for 50 straight days.
6. On this thread, we can post our daily or weekly totals and share routines/results. etc.
7. The picture page can be used for those interested in before and after pics.
8. Pushups should be counted separately and should remain in their own category.
50 pushups = 1 point.
9. Determine the added worth of certain exercises and give yourself the extra points.
Ex. Reverse roman chair leg raises might be worth double. So 50 = 1 point.
This is not a competition, it is for personal improvement, so this won't be a problem.

Good luck.

You are a sick, sick man. ;)
I'll try, but with IMLP training, Medical Terminology class and the end of the school year coming (work) it won't be everyday...

Medical Terminology Class! I know you mentioned a career change. Are you going into Physical Therapy? I ask because you have the right personality for it.

Em - as many as you can. As gfd said, it's not a competition, it's more a group of folks motivating each other. Some of these guys are putting up crazy numbers (think 1000 reps a day!). I didn't do this last go-around, but was in the first crew and probably averaged about 100-125 reps per day.

I'll try and play again...I let myself slide a bit after the original 50 days, so I could definately use some tightening up.

Next core rest day is scheduled for December 26th. Unless of course we start another core thread that day.

Shooting for 400-500 pts this time. I wrote it, so now I own it. That's the beauty of the 50 Days of Core thread.

I'm in too. Took a small break from any workout after a nice long weekend in Ohio at Triple T. :)
Hopefully will have some time to write the report.
Anyway, i'll start tonight on my 3rd core.

10 points so far...
You mean I have the personality to inflict pain and twist people into odd shapes? ;)
Finished A&P last year and now taking core courses for any medical field...have thought about nursing but am being recruited for Surgery Tech...because (In my best Peter Lorre voice, even though many of you have NO idea who that is) I love shiney instruments and rib spreaders!

Wasn't Peter Lorre in Casablanca and some Vincent Price movies? I can imagine his voice but can't remeber his famous lines.

Can you describe for me what bridges are? I know planks, but have never heard of bridges (or maybe I have and just didn't know they were called bridges).

Thanks!

You guys are humiliating, another point total =3. I guess I have to start somewhere.

Hey jshepard, a bridge.
Lie on the floor, knees bent feet together and flat on the ground. So your legs make an apex.

Tense your tummy muscles and lift your hips so there is a triangle of space under you where the hypotenuse is the space from your shouders to your feet....
Hold and slowly lower.
ER maybe some one else can describe it better :-(

that's pretty much it
only thing to add is a picture

once you get this down, you can go to just one leg, or add a swiss ball into it

that's what i've been saying to gfd and jtrimom all along! :) I'm glad i'm not the only one ;)

warrior, you will get there in no time...you'll be logging 3.5's and then 4's before you know it

you should go look at the previous core threads...princeofclydes was a beast this winter with something like a 1000 reps in a day

ooooh -- I always picture bridges like in gymnastics as a kid... like that but also with hands planted flat and "over shoulder" kind of thing and head back and hanging down... ;)

kylie, isn't the type of bridge you describe, not recommended because it can hurt the spine? I don't know if someone told me or where I read it.....just curious.

Man, I haven't heard the word hypotenuse in a LONG time :) I sucked at geometry, but I remembered that.

I liked the math reference! Umm... lots of dance... all the ones it seems little girls want to try... tap, ballet, jazz... And if I do core tonight can we forget about the pink tights in my past? ;) Spandex is way sexier! haha
