Is it really all that neccassary for me to wear a Jersey during the day during my rides or can I just go topless? Thoughts?

my gleaming white skin would be a hazard to drivers, so I opt for the jersey.

pros:
UV protection
road rash protection (in case of crash)
pockets

cons:
hot(ter than topless)
can't show off your sixpack
bad (ass?) tan lines

for me, the pros outweigh the cons....then again, i only have a two pack.

Are you biking anywhere in the vicinity of Lorraine Highway in the Willamette Valley of Oregon? If so, I definitely recommend the topless approach. If not, I could care less ;-)

Just kidding. I'd say for sun protection alone, a jersey is your best friend. Take it from me, the triathlete who wore tank tops through the first 15 years of her sport and now has had at least one (thankfully benign) skin cancer removed from the skin exposed by the tank tops. High-neck jerseys are now my biking wear.

Only one image comes to mind: Michael Rasmussen.

Based on that image alone, we should all never wear jerseys ...

cover what you can and sunscreen what you can't.

A bright colored jersey also helps traffic see you better. What can I say, I am a mom. Safety first:)

Fanta? Really?

Oh, he's pretty skinny too... but an amazing climber. So I take it the UCI banned him for missing the out of competition tests? Haven't seen anything about him for a while.

Fired during the Tour de France and later banned.

Allegations of Fanta use continue to dog him, but so far nothing has been proven... ;)
